Travel Update from Ottawa: Philippines: Typhoon Nesat

TRAVEL reports: Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada have issued the following updates on the travel.gc.ca website to the following countries:

Philippines – Exercise high degree of caution

Typhoon Nesat (or Pedring) is expected to make landfall on the northeast coast of Luzon Island on September 27. Heavy rains and strong winds may cause flooding and mudslides, which may lead to transportation and communications problems. Canadians should exercise caution, monitor local news and weather reports, and follow the advice of local authorities. The Embassy of Canada in Manila will be closed on September 27 due to the storm. For emergency assistance after hours, call the Embassy of Canada in Manila and follow the instructions. You may also call the Emergency Operations Centre in Ottawa toll-free at 1-800-1-110-0226. Please note that this toll-free number is only available from a landline.
