Cuba Halts U.S. Travel Visas

Majority of U.S. travel to Cuba to cease until new bank can be found to process visa fees
The government of Cuba announced on Friday that it will no longer process visas for U.S. travel to Cuba.

According to the Cuban government, all U.S. travel to Cuba will end until a new bank can be found to process the visa fees collected and routed to Cuba.

The announcement will cease all U.S. travel except for humanitarian purposes, bringing to close – for the time being – of the “people-to-people” visa program.

In a statement, Cuba said it would cut off “family visits, academic, cultural, educational, scientific, sports” and other exchanges that had permitted U.S. travel to the destination more easily in recent years.
