Regional Advisory for Acapulco

If you are currently in Acapulco, you should leave until public services and transportation routes are re-established. Aeromexico, Interjet and AeroMar are offering flights to Mexico City. Contact the airlines to get flight information and boarding details. Passengers are responsible for covering the costs for these flights.

Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada advises against all travel to Acapulco in the state of Guerrero due to flooding caused by Tropical Storm Manuel. If you are currently in Acapulco or other affected areas, you should consider leaving. Tropical Storm Manuel recently made landfall on the coast of the state of Guerrero causing widespread material damage and flooding. The Acapulco International Airport is closed. Transportation routes, power and telecommunications systems are affected in some areas, and all roads connecting Mexico City to Acapulco are impassable due to flooding. Authorities are working on clearing the Autopista del Sol, the main road connecting Acapulco to Mexico City, which might not be reopened for another 48 to 72 hours. Other services that may be affected include emergency and medical care, as well as water, food and fuel supplies.
