Dreamliner: another one diverted

21 JUN 2013: A United Airlines Boeing 787 bound for Houston from London on Thursday afternoon was diverted because of a low-oil indication, officials said. This is the second Dreamliner United has been forced to divert in three days

United Airlines Flight 125 from London Heathrow to Bush Intercontinental Airport landed without incident in Newark, N.J., around 1:15 p.m., and the airline was working to accommodate passengers, United said in a statement.

On Tuesday, another Dreamliner was diverted to Seattle on a flight from Tokyo to Denver because of an oil filter problem. United and Boeing officials reportedly said the incidents are not related, but the problems of the new Dreamliners planes are being watched closely since they were grounded in January because of electrical problems, including overheating lithium-ion batteries.

The order was lifted in April, and Dreamliners resumed flying domestically in May and internationally in June. The planes only resumed commercial service in May.

United has planes in service between Houston and hubs in Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles. It also has been flying temporary flights between London and Houston.
