U.S. consulate in Amsterdam closes due to anti-Islam demonstration
THE HAGUE, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) — The American consulate in Amsterdam closed its doors on Friday afternoon due to a planned demonstration against the controversial anti-Islam film “Innocence of Muslims”.
According to the consulate, the Dutch police forces were informed of the two demonstrations that are scheduled on Friday and on Sunday.
The consulate has advised American citizens to avoid the area around the Museumplein in Amsterdam, where the consulate is located.
