Arend & Darlene’s Excellent Adventure to Italy and the Dalmation Coast – Day 3

Today is our only full day at sea. Lounged around the ship and enjoyed the unfurling of the sails.

The Sea Cloud II looks truly majestic when she sails under wind power. The ship is somewhat different from other sailing ships as her sails must be manually unfurled as opposed to electronically as most of her competitors do.

We enjoyed a leisurely lunch. After lunch, the ship launched a couple of Zodiacs for us to take pictures of the ship from the water. Then we did a tour of the ship with the hotel captain and the cruise director. The owner’s suite is very elegant. One thing to note is that cabins become a little smaller the closer you are to the front of the ship.

After the tour, I visited Sabine, the masseuse on board to work out some of the travel kinks. Tonight is the Captain’s welcome dinner. They still like to have jackets for this affair, however I noticed some passengers were a little more casual. Lobster dinner was delicious and the piano player on the aft deck provided accompaniment to a wonderful evening under the stars.
