Air Canada and CUPE have agreed on a tentative deal, averting a strike that was to start just after midnight.

Negotiations between the airline and its 6,800 flight attendants began Sunday morning.

In the end, Raitt said it will be up to the opposition NDP to determine how long it takes to get the bill passed.

About three months ago, a deal was reached between the airline and its service personnel at the last minute as well, as back to work legislation was introduced by the government.
