Today we cruised back into the magnificent city of Venice.
After an early morning arrival, Darlene and I hopped on the waterbus to head up to Piazza S. Roma where we picked up our Europcar rental. After some short formalities we were on the road to Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet.
The hotel we chose is the Hotel de’ Capuletti. Once again the rooms are definitely small by North American standards, but the hotel was comfortable and convenient to all of Verona’s sights. Verona is a world heritage city.
The center of the city is the site of an enormous arena built by the Romans in the first century AD. During the summer they still use the arena for operas. The via Mazzini is the city’s premier pedestrian shopping street with all the top brands available. There are numerous sidewalk cafes, great for people watching.
Had dinner at a great little neighbourhood restaurant sitting outside.
