We were advised late yesterday that the ship had some mechanical difficulties and that we would be docking in Rovinj, rather than Pula.
Rovinj was one of the most important towns of Istria under Venetian rule. The town is an absolute delight to walk through and during our visit the annual art festival was being held, filling the street with many sidewalk exhibitions.
We then continued by coach to the medieval town of Svetvincenat where we enjoyed a tasting of local truffles, ham, cheese and wines. Svetvincenat was also having a medieval festival today; however the festivities were happening later that evening, too late for us. The main castle of the town dates back to the 8th century.
We then proceeded back to the port of Rovinj, did a half hour tour on the waterfront and then went back to the ship. Tonight we are invited to join the captain for a small get together on the bridge.
Alas, our tall ship portion of this trip is coming to a close.
