| Parliament Hill came under attack before 10 am (ET) today after a man with a rifle shot a soldier standing guard at the National War Memorial in downtown Ottawa. Gun shots also rang through the halls of Parliament Hill’s Centre Block. A gunman has been confirmed dead inside Parliament. Most of downtown Ottawa is under lockdown. People currently working in the downtown core were told to avoid windows and stay inside. RCMP advised people to stay away from the area. The Rideau Centre mall, a major shopping centre a block from the war memorial, was also in lockdown after police reported shots being fired nearby. Police continue to investigate as the situation develops and further details are confirmed.
