Globus expands great travel options in Europe

Globus is a firm Canadian favourite when it comes to escorted coach tours of Europe. After all, they have over 85 years experience and are constantly adding new itineraries, more inclusions and more cultural insights!

And 2014 is no exception. Next year the company will add four brand new itineraries and expand their Great Canadian War Memorial tours. While the company will bring back lots of tours to Britain, Western Europe and other “classic” tour destinations, these added itineraries reflect Canadians’ growing interest in heading slightly off the beaten path or exploring one region of Europe in greater depth.

And, like all Globus tours, these holidays include Local Favorites℠, memorable experiences and glimpses into local culture such as meals in off-the-beaten-path, traditional restaurants, tastings (wine, cheese – even chocolate!) and outings including a guided walking tour of Milan’s fashion district.

Another plus to travelling with Globus is that you’ll enjoy free WiFi on board its modern coaches (wherever it’s available) – what a wonderful way to stay in touch with friends and family and share your travel experiences in real time!

One of the new itineraries is the Ukraine and Crimea tour, a 9 day tour delving into Eastern Europe, where you’ll visit many historically-significant sites including Odessa and Kiev. “We predict this will be a great success with both history buffs and the many Canadians with a Ukranian heritage,” says Stéphanie Bishop of Globus in Canada.

Or choose the 8 day Italian Vista tour, which brings the number Globus’s tour options to this popular country to an even dozen. This new tour is great if you are looking for a more leisurely paced vacation, as you have two nights each in Rome, Padua and Milan, as well as one night in Assisi. During that time you’ll get to wander the fabled streets of Rome, take in the breathtaking architecture (and enticing shopping) of Florence, admire the balcony where it’s said Juliet gazed on her beloved Romeo, and enter Venice in style on a private boat. And because you’re travelling with Globus, you won’t be cooling your heels in long line-ups at the top attractions: all Globus travellers enjoy VIP access and get to bypass the queues.

Other new tours include the 12 day Lisbon and Northern Spain and Beautiful France where a highlight is sure to be a two-night stay in Château de Chailly in Pouilly-en-Auxois. 2014 is shaping up as a significant year for history enthusiasts and veterans’ descendents as Europe marks the centenary of the commencement of World War I. Globus has planned five departures of their Great Canadian War Memorial itinerary, which visits a number of sites deeply significant to Canadians including Vimy Ridge, Juno Beach and the Canadian Cemeteries in Riviers and Dieppe.

All of these join the fabulous selection of tours throughout the breadth of Europe, from the bracing breezes of the Arctic Circle to the sunny skies of Greece. The company even has a few tours dedicated to families. “When you think about it, a coach tour is a great way to introduce your kids to Europe: you get to leave the driving to someone else and enjoy the ride on an itinerary planned and timed to suit young kids. Plus you’re travelling with other families who may prove to be perfect playmates!” says Bishop.

Whether you’re venturing for the first time “across the pond” or are a seasoned European traveller, chances are Globus has a tour just right for you – and one that your Vision 2000 travel advisor will be pleased to make come true.
