We started the day a bit late but soon we were on the road again.
The front desk arranged a tasting at a winery called Francone just outside Neive. The area we were touring today is home to Barbaresco wines. Barbaresco also comes from the Nebbiolo grape but the terroir is different, producing a totally different taste to the Barolos.
At the winery, we met one of the three brothers that run the winery, Fabrizio Francone. Fabrizio gave us a very enlightened tasting and of course gave us some insight on how to bring his wines back to Canada. As we were leaving a busload of Swedish wine enthusiasts came to visit. We were very fortunate to have a private tasting experience.
We made a brief stop at the village of Barbaresco and then called it a day. Need a good sleep before our long ride to Toscana.
