Whilst the strike is due to start immediately, which airports will be affected as well as how many controllers will be out on strike will be decided on Wednesday.
This could cause delays and even airport closures if a large number of controllers choose to stage a walkout.
Torbjørn Lothe director of NHO Aerospace which represents airlines in Norway told NRK that a strike will hit companies hard.
“No aircraft will takeoff or land at an airport without air traffic controllers, and passenger traffic will be at a standstill. It will affect the passengers, airlines and those who provide services to flight traffic.”
Mr Lothe hopes that a solution can be found to stop the strike in order to avoid delays and cancellations.
Passengers have the right to a refund for strike-cancelled flights, or the airport can arrange an alternative flight for them.
According to the regulations, passengers are also entitles to reimbursements for any meals, hotel or travel expenses if a strike causes them to be stranded at an airport.
