Pakistan: Regional warning Gilgit ?Avoid all travel

Violent clashes between Sunni and Shia groups have been reported in April 2012. The situation remains highly unpredictable and has the potential to deteriorate further. Additional security forces have been deployed and a curfew has been imposed. Canadians are advised to consider departing if it is safe to do so and to contact their airline to check the status of their flight prior to travelling to the airport. Canadians who choose to remain in Gilgit despite this warning are advised to remain indoors, follow the advice of local authorities, register and carefully follow messages issued through the Registration of Canadians Abroad (ROCA) service.
