Travel Alert from Ottawa: Exercise high degree of caution
Reventador, located 95 kilometres east of Quito, has started a new eruptive period and is showing increasing signs of volatility. Authorities have suspended all mountaineering and climbing activities in the vicinity of the volcano for safety reasons. Quito could also be affected because of ash fall and Canadians should expect flight delays at the Mariscal Sucre airport, which could close.
