AIR France says that it expects 80% of its flights to go ahead this weekend despite a strike by cabin crew protesting about plans to cut the numbers working on each flight.
However, with the Toussaint holiday in full swing there is bound to be a knock-on effect with delays and disruptions to schedules. Air France, itself, says there will be some disruption – and even some last-minute cancellations – but does not know the extent as cabin crew are not obliged to let it know in advance if they are working or not.
The company says that passengers should check the Air France website for details of the latest situation before they head to the airport. They can also send a text with the number of their flight – for example AF2062 – to 63654 and get an update by return. There is also a non-surcharged phone number for information 01 57 02 10 58.
Air France says that tickets will be changed or exchanged without cost.
So far 15 days of negotiations have seen some progress but no breakthrough, with six out of the seven unions involved voting for the strike. Cabin crew are objecting to plans to cut staffing. They fear the cuts will impact on the quality of service and the safety of both passengers and crew.
