OFFICIAL WARNING: Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada advises against all travel to areas along the border with Thailand, China, and Laos due to clashes between the military and armed groups, ethnic conflict, banditry, and unmarked landmines in these areas which pose risks to the security of travellers. In November 2010, fighting between ethnic groups and military forces in Myawaddy and Three Pagoda Pass (in the border area with Thailand) involved gun and mortar fire and led to injuries and deaths, as well as the movement of thousands of Burmese people into Thailand.
