Travelinfo.ca: MEXICAN officials have ordered the partial closure of the Grand Riviera Princess following the explosion last week which killed seven people, including five Canadians.
The closure is said to be a preventative measure in order for investigators to further look into the cause of the blast as well as the possibility of a new explosion.
Early findings showed that the explosion might have been the result of swamp gases that sparked, but now there is additional evidence that liquefied petroleum gas and methane might have played a contributing role.
State Attorney General, Francisco Alor, was quoted by local media saying that investigators have found %u21Cirregularities%u21D in some of the hotel%u219s installations, along with %u21Cinappropriate%u21D developments at the resort. He was also quoted saying that the investigation into the explosion would most likely be concluded by the end of this month.
So far it is understood that all guests have received the necessary assistance from representatives and have been moved to another resort.
