Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada have issued the following updates on travel to:
Indonesia:Exercise high degree of caution
Mount Merapi (near Yogyakarta) began erupting on October 26, 2010. Those living within a 10 km radius of the crater have been advised to evacuate. Canadians should avoid the area and follow the advice of local authorities.
Mount Karangetang (North Sulawesi) and the Sinabung volcano (Sumatra) erupted on August 6 and 28, 2010 respectively. Indonesian officials are also monitoring high volcanic activity around Anak Krakatau (West Java), Mount Semeru (East Java), and Mount Ibu (North Maluku). Canadians should avoid these areas and follow the advice of local authorities.
