In the ongoing effort to keep Canadians safe, the government has launched a program called ArriveCAN. On November 21, 2020, it became mandatory for all travellers to Canada to provide contact and quarantine information upon arrival.
How it Works
Travellers can either download the ArriveCAN app to their smart device or use the online form. When entering Canada by land, sea or air you must enter the following information to ArriveCAN:
- Travel and contact information
- Quarantine plan (unless exempt)
- COVID-19 self-assessment
Once you have submitted your information a receipt will be displayed. You must be ready to show the receipt to a Canadian border services officer either from the app as a screenshot or as a printout.
Your privacy is Protected with ArriveCAN:
- doesn’t use GPS or other technology on your mobile phone to track your location.
- uses only the information provided by you, the user.
The personal information provided through ArriveCAN is protected according to the Privacy Act.
