Seven of the 21 rescued from a collapsed building in Changning district, Shanghai died at a hospital, with two people still trapped as of press time on Thursday.
A factory building collapsed around 11 am on Thursday, trapping 23 people. As of press time, 21 people have been found while seven of them died after being rescued, the Beijing News reported on Thursday.
Another two remain trapped.
Local authorities launched emergency rescue measures after the incident. The reason for the collapse is still under investigation.
The Shanghai municipal government urged to strengthen inspection of safety hazards to protect people and property, the Beijing News reported.
