Ready to start planning your winter vacation? It’s that time of year again. The thermometer is dropping, the kids are back in school and like it or not, winter will be here before we know it. Which means it’s time to plan your winter vacation, that splendid week of sunshine and sand amid the otherwise endless snow and grey of winter.
Our Top Tips for Planning Your Winter Vacation
Book Early
As always at Vision Travel we encourage our clients to book early. The start of the season is when the most inventory is available. Some destinations have very limited direct flights, smaller hotels fill up quickly and adults-only resorts get snapped up. Additionally, right now our travel partners are offering their best promotions of the season. And we practice what we preach, Vision Travel’s SVP of Marketing & Loyalty, Stephen Smith, has already booked his family’s 2019 winter vacation. Smith says, ‘” I have two school-age children who are involved with sports teams, therefore our travel dates are somewhat restricted. As someone who works in the travel industry, I know how fast flights and room categories sell out and I wanted the peace of mind knowing our vacation was taken planned and taken care of.”
Early Booking Offers Include Best Price Guarantee, Early Booking Savings, complimentary seat selection, future travel vouchers and more.
Work with Your Advisor
Two of your must-haves when planning your winter vacation are beach and sun but what else should you consider? For example, does anyone travelling with you have mobility issues? Your Travel Advisor can recommend a smaller resort with fewer stairs, and request and ground floor room. Food allergies can be tricky in Mexico and the Carribean. Your Vision Travel advisor has the resources to help pinpoint resorts that will work best for you. Travelling with children is a lot of fun, but stay at the wrong resort, your week-long vacation may not end up being the break you are looking for.
Consider New Destinations
Each year our travel partners launch flights to upcoming destinations. Why not be one of the first to visit the hot spot of tomorrow? These routes usually have what can be considered introductory pricing to entice travellers to give a new destination a try. For example, for the 2018/19 season, Air Canada Rouge has launched a flight to Cartagena. The old city of Cartagena is a Unesco World Heritage site and industry insiders are touting it as the next must-visit destination. Here visitors can explore a historical city as well as spend time on their spectacular beach.
As much as we would like to deny it, winter will be here before we know it and there is no better feeling than knowing your escape is already planned.
