Guatemala: volcano activity

Due to a recent increase in volcanic activity, the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRAD) in Guatemala issued an orange alert (danger) for the Fuego Volcano on February, 1, 2018. A fine volcanic ash is falling in the areas surrounding the volcano, including Antigua Guatemala, Ciudad Vieja, and the west and south of Guatemala City.

Avoid the affected area. If you are travelling in this region, monitor local news and follow the instructions of local authorities. Contact your airline or tour operator to determine if the situation could affect your travel plans.
