Prosegur staff, who provide security services at Madrid’s Adolfo Suárez (Barajas) airport, voted on Wednesday to carry out the sporadic strike action planned for the period from December 22nd to January 8th – the whole festive period.
Security staff had called off the initial wave of sporadic strikes, which had been due to start on November 28th and end on December 11th, but in yesterday’s meeting they decided to go ahead with the second wave of strike action.
At the meeting, 309 of the 331 security guards and 98 of the 103 auxiliary workers voted in favour of the strike.
The strikes will take place between 5:30am and 6:30am, between 10:30am and 11:30am, between 2pm and 3pm, and between 7pm and 8pm.
Trade union sources maintain, however, that they remain open to dialogue with their employers, and a meeting between the two parties has been organised at a Labour and Social Security court on December 11th, since Prosegur has brought a lawsuit against the security guards on the basis that the strike action in illegal.
