Madrid Airport: Strike by Security workers July 14-31

SECURITY check workers at Madrid’s Adolfo Suárez-Barajas airport will be on strike for two weeks from Friday, July 14.

The only days between then and Sunday, July 31 not affected by strikes will be from July 18 to 20 and July 25 to 27 inclusive.

Strikes will be held for an hour at a time four times a day, starting at 05.30, 10.30, 14.00 and 19.00.

Queues to get through to departures could, therefore, become very long, and anyone travelling through Madrid airport is strongly advised to leave plenty of extra time before their flight in case of major delays.

The industrial action has been called by the union ATES, and affects all security workers from the franchise firm Prosegur.
At the moment, it is not thought that the strike will affect any other airport in Spain.
