Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Marce has intensified into a tropical storm as it moves toward Panay island, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said early Friday morning.
At 4 p.m., the eye of the storm was estimated at 55 km Southeast of Coron, Palawan. The state weather bureau also said Marce was packing maximum sustained winds of up to 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.
Marce made landfall over Siargao Island, Surigao Del Norte on Wednesday evening.
PAGASA said the storm will move West-Northwest at 22 kph and will leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday.
