Manchester Airport runway closed as BA plane develops fault
A runway has closed at Manchester Airport after a British Airways (BA) plane developed a technical fault after landing.
Passengers on the flight from London Heathrow disembarked using the “usual steps” and were “bussed to the terminal”, an airport spokesman said.
Manchester Airport tweeted to say it “remains fully operational” with traffic switched to the second runway.
This was “normal procedure”, the spokesman added.
A BA spokesman confirmed that the plane had landed safely.
However, the airline did not reveal the precise nature of the technical fault in the 16-year-old Airbus A319-131 aircraft, which bears the registration G-EUPM.
