Fire crews responded to a Hazmat situation in downtown Chicago Thursday morning.
Chicago Fire Media reported a construction crew hit a gas line near Madison and Wabash, prompting a level one Hazmat response around 11 a.m.
Officials said gas was escaping fire department monitoring buildings and air intake systems were being shut down.
The Chicago Transit Authority said Loop ‘L’ trains were standing near Adams/Wabash due to fire department activity. Service was shut down on the elevated lines near Wabash and Pink Line trains were also operating only to Polk.
Trains began resuming service at noon as fire officials said the scene was secured.
No injuries were reported.
