Greece: Greek railways strike continues July 13 & 14

Trains between Bulgaria and Greece are again being affected as a strike by Greek railways continues.

Initially, the strike was called for July 8 to 12, leading to the cancellation of trains between Sofia and the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki on July 9 and 10.

On July 13, Bulgarian state railways BDZ said that the continuation of the strike meant “reorganisation” of trains between Bulgaria and Greece on July 13 and 14.

The international train number 360 from Thessaloniki to Sofia and the international train from Sofia to Thessaloniki would be affected. The trains would travel only between Sofia and Kulata, the border checkpoint between Bulgaria and Greece, BDZ said.

BDZ Passenger Services said that it would refund sums to all passengers who had bought tickets in advance for the trains affected.

For further information, customers could approach information desks and ticket offices at all relevant railway stations, BDZ said.

Employees of Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) and Proastiakos suburban railways are striking in protest against Greek government plans to privatise TRAINOSE and ROSCO, the company in charge of the maintenance of Greek railways rolling stock.
