Texas: DFW: winter storm

Winter Storm Quantum is glazing over roadways in the South and the Rockies Monday morning, leaving one dead and spawning a major pileup among many other accidents in Texas.

As NBC 4 reports, at least 25 vehicles collided on I-40 near the New Mexico/Texas state line and shut down eastbound travel on the highway.

In Texas, a driver died after colliding with an 18-wheeler in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex

Air travelers scheduled to depart Monday are having problems of their own as Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport has already canceled over 500 flights, according to FlightAware.

“Winter Storm Quantum will deliver a widespread swath of snow and ice from the Rockies into the Deep South through Monday. Travel will be hazardous along stretches of I-40 and I-20 through this corridor,” says weather.com meteorologist Chris Dolce, “This includes the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, where sleet and freezing rain will travel difficult.”
