Arend & Darlene’s Excellent Adventure to Italy and the Dalmation Coast – Day 7

Arrived in Sibenik at 0800 and we were off for a walk through the old city.

Sibenik is the oldest native Croatian town on the Eastern Adriatic and was first mentioned 1066 AD. Influenced by the Venetians, the Habsburgs, threatened by the Ottomans, occupied by Italy during World War 2, it sustained a heavy attack by the Yugoslav army in recent times.

The main attraction is the cathedral of St. Jacob. The old city is quite compact, and wonderfully preserved. Then we were off to Krka National Park which has spectacular natural scenery including numerous waterfalls. Darlene went for a swim at the bottom of the main falls. Back to the ship for another sunny, leisurely afternoon.

Tonight will be the Captain’s farewell dinner, even though we are on the ship for another day.
